Hi, I’m Robert. Simple Contractor Tools grew out of the same idea that started my other Simple Tools projects: useful software should make everyday work easier, not more complicated.

As I worked on practical online calculators and landlord tools, I kept seeing another opportunity. Independent contractors have to do much more than the physical work. They estimate jobs, calculate materials, prepare paperwork, document changes, invoice customers, track progress and keep projects organized.

I wanted to bring those jobs together in one straightforward toolbox built around the way contractors actually work.

My goal is to build a professional contractor toolbox that is powerful enough to be genuinely useful while remaining simple enough to open and use without a complicated learning curve.

Every feature should solve a real problem: calculate a quantity, prepare a document, organize a project, communicate with a customer or save time on the job.

Why I Built Simple Contractor Tools

Contractors spend a lot of time away from the actual trade work creating estimates, invoices, change orders and job paperwork.

Measurements and material calculations should connect naturally to estimating instead of living in separate tools and spreadsheets.

I wanted to go beyond forms and create visual planning tools such as the Whole Home Designer for rooms, trades and landscaping.

The long-term goal is to connect the contractor and customer through estimates, approvals, project updates, invoices and a customer portal.

My Contractor Tools Journey

1. The Idea

Build a simple collection of professional paperwork and calculators for independent contractors.

Keep it useful. Keep it simple.

2. The Job Tools

Estimates, change orders, invoices, work orders, daily reports, punch lists and other everyday project documents.

A real working toolbox began to form.

The project grew into interactive room, trade and landscape planning with measurements and material takeoffs.

From paperwork to visual project planning.

4. Contractor Calculators

Electrical, plumbing, HVAC, painting, construction and landscape calculators became part of the same site.

Measurements become useful job quantities.

5. Customer Connection

The Customer Project Portal began connecting project information, approvals and communication with the customer.

Both sides of the project in one workflow.

More calculators, better workflows, contractor resources and tighter connections between every part of the job.

This is only the beginning.

What’s Next?

Simple Contractor Tools will continue growing, but I want to protect the idea that started it: do not make contractors fight the software.
